We are doing our best to bring consciousness, non-violence and sustainability into Shubha. Our Power We love solar power! The Shubha studio is powered using photovoltaic panels and so the entire Shubha line is manufactured with the power of the sun. We are the only business in the yoga community to mix solar power with organic cotton products and we're very excited about this combination. Our Materials We know everyone adores the feel of silk, but we choose to use 100% cotton at Shubha because it is a natural and cruelty-free choice for cloth. Our organic cotton line is colored with low-impact fiber-reactive dyes. This method uses very little water and because the dyes actually bind with the fibers of the fabric there is very little waste material. The only time we use synthetic fabrics for the line is when we find high-end fabric remnants that are headed for a landfill and can be rescued for use as yoga mat bags. Our Catalogs Our catalogs are designed and updated on a laptop computer that uses solar power. Whenever possible we print on recycled paper. Our catalogs are updated regularly and are available upon request. In a effort to conserve paper we ask that you refer to the website often for information about new designs and products. Our Plants Whenever possible we are using organic flax and herbs in our eye pillows from responsible growers. We stopped using Sandalwood in our pitta eye pillows because of the overharvesting and smuggling that has become commonplace with wild-crafted Sandalwood. At this time we are seeking out a responsible source of organic, cultivated Sandalwood so that we can bring this beautiful tree back into the Shubha line. A portion of the commission we recieve for your orders is donated to Yoga on the Inside, a non-profit organization that has implemented yoga programs around the country in prisons and youth correctional facilities.
